Frequently asked questions

Why do I need Developer Mode?

LeadsMap is distributed as a direct download rather than through the Chrome Web Store. Developer Mode is required to install extensions from outside the store. It's safe — thousands of power users and developers use this method daily.

Is it safe to install extensions in Developer Mode?

Yes, as long as you download from a trusted source. LeadsMap is open about what it does: it reads Google Maps pages only, and never accesses your personal browsing data.

Why does Chrome show a warning about Developer Mode?

Chrome shows this reminder every time you open the browser when Developer Mode is on. You can dismiss it. It's a standard warning, not an error.

How do I update to a new version?

Download the new zip from this page, go to chrome://extensions, remove the old LeadsMap entry, then unzip the new package and load it with 'Load unpacked'. Your saved data will not be affected.

Does this work on Edge or Firefox?

LeadsMap is built for Chrome. It may work on Chromium-based browsers (Brave, Edge) using the same install method, but is not officially tested on them.
